PROJECT OVERVIEW

JLES Thames acted as the main contractor and managing agent on this project undertaking a major spoke of works as requested by the adoption authorities. JLES’ works programme enabled Anglian Water to release the vesting certificate for the S104 agreement, with 0 extras charged to the client, on a fixed fee, lump sum agreement.

• Various manhole and drainage length works were carried out including; excavations to replace damaged lengths, structural patch lining, and internal manhole works.

• Major highway remedial programme including: over 1600m2 carriageway resurfacing, kerbing works, signage installation, highway drainage excavations and general maintenance works.

JLES engineers managed all works, as well as conducting all consultancy and technical work to satisfy outstanding adoption documentation.

CHALLAGES

The project presented various challenges, notably the necessity for ongoing communication with a local school and a sizable resident population. JLES Thames effectively addressed these challenges by maintaining regular contact with all stakeholders. They implemented strategic communication measures, such as distributing letters and providing updates on a dedicated local Facebook page. Successfully navigating the intricacies of coordinating information, including a school, demanded careful planning and precise execution to ensure consistent and thorough communication throughout the development process.

• JLES Thames were appointed as the specialist contractor to complete the S104 agreement works alongside a bespoke highway works programme enabling vesting of the sewers and approval of the highways.

• We completed a variety of manhole and drainage length works which included, excavations to replace damaged lengths, structural patch lining and internal manhole works to achieve adoption alongside Anglian Water.

• Our bespoke highway works programme included over 1600m2 carriageway resurfacing, kerbing works, signage installation, highway drainage excavations and general maintenance works. Bedford Borough Council were liaised with throughout the programme to obtain approval of the works completed.
