For over 20 years we have worked closely with developers, housing associations, local authorities and water authorities to deliver compliant infrastructure that protects developers and communities, and enables adoption.
This approach was independently recognised when JLES became a Certified B Corporations™ in 2026.
It reflects something that has long been embedded in our business: a commitment to operating responsibly across our workforce, supply chain, clients and communities.
Certified B Corporations are companies verified as meeting standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
B Corps are part of a global movement working to benefit people and the planet, committed to balancing purpose and profit by considering the impact of their decisions on all stakeholders.
Today, more than 8,000 businesses worldwide are part of the B Corp community, working together to raise standards of responsible business.

Construction and infrastructure play a vital role in shaping the communities we live in, but the industry also faces significant challenges. These include things like:
At JLES we believe businesses working within this industry must hold themselves accountable for how they operate.
Pursuing the B Corp certification gave us a framework to independently assess the standards already embedded within our business and identify where we can continue improving.
Following a rigorous two-year assessment process, JLES achieved a B Impact Score of 83.9, exceeding the 80-point threshold required for certification.
The median score for businesses completing the B Impact Assessment is around 50 points, making certification a significant milestone for the business.
The assessment reviewed every part of JLES across five key impact areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers.
Certification also requires companies to formally embed stakeholder accountability into their company governance and to publicly disclose their B Impact Score.

We envision a global economy that uses business as a force for good. This economy is comprised of a new type of corporation - the B corporation - which is purpose-driven and creates benefit for all stakeholders, not just shareholders.
As B corporations and leaders of this emerging economy, we believe:
To do so requires that we act with the understanding that we are each dependent upon another and thus responsible for each other and future generations.

The B Corp assessment recognised several practices already embedded within JLES, including:
For our clients, becoming a B Corp reinforces commitments they already expect from JLES: integrity, transparency and accountability in how we operate.
The certification does not change the fundamentals of how we deliver infrastructure, but it strengthens the framework behind it.
B Corp independently verifies how we operate across governance, workforce wellbeing, environmental management and supply chain accountability. These are all areas that increasingly align with the expectations placed on developers, housing associations and public sector organisations around ESG, procurement and responsible supply chains. For clients, this provides additional assurance that the infrastructure partner they are working with operates within a robust accountability framework.
At the same time, our focus remains the same: helping clients resolve complex adoption challenges and deliver roads and drainage infrastructure that meet adoptable standards and support long-term community outcomes.
Ultimately, responsible infrastructure delivery protects developers, residents and the authorities that adopt these assets.
