JLES Group History - our story so far

We are proud of our 15 years in business and how we have continued to grow into something bigger and better year upon year. Here are the chapters in the JLES story so far.
  • 2019JLES Legal Services Launched
    We marked another important milestone in our growth as the UK’s leading Road and Sewer Adoption Specialists as we announced the launch of JLES Legal Services!

    Our Legal Services Department assists all JLES regions with legal advice and consultation. This enables our developer clients to achieve progression of their unadopted sites far quicker when ‘legal hindrances’ are present.

    Consolidated Turnover exceeds £5.5million as the business continues to grow.
  • 2015JLES invest in Design
    JLES invest in Design with addition of Group Principal Designer with more than 25 years’ experience in the industry.
  • 201410 Year Anniversary
    Launch of a new brand identity to celebrate 10 years in business. Created Business Development, Customer Service and HR departments. Named as UK Top 100 Apprentice Employer. JLES Adoption Management System awarded Best Business Product at Housebuilder Product Awards. Awarded Regional Employer of the Year at National Apprenticeship Awards. JLES Highly Commended in category of Subcontractor of the Year at Housebuilder Awards.
  • 2013Annual Turnover Exceeds £4.25 Million
    Staff numbers grow to incorporate 30 full time technical/engineering staff. Annual consolidated turnover exceeds £4.25 million.
  • 2012Business Expands Operations
    RS Bonds , a JLES subsidiary company launched to help clients efficiently address new road and sewer bond issues. Announcement of staff incentive EMI share scheme to all employees. Special projects (strategic team) launched new initiative to assist developers in the reclaim of millions of pounds of refundable monies paid to Local Authorities/Water Companies. Construction News Specialist Awards: Winner (Business Growth).
  • 2011Southern Office Opened
    JLES Southern Regional office opened to establish true nationwide geographical spread JLES extends its Special Projects operations to include retaining works, river bank improvements and sewer redesign and receives commendation from Environment Agency. Engaged by UK Water Company in joint initiative to help developers with issue of unadopted sewers.
  • 2010 First Design, Build and Adopt Infrastructure Package
    JLES delivers first design, build and adopt infrastructure package. JLES undertakes first work for Public Sector Clients. JLES Special Projects delivers building completion works for administrator client.
  • 2009Midlands Office Opened
    JLES further diversifies client base to include commercial developers and bond surety providers. Staff numbers grow to 15 full time engineering and technical staff. JLES Midlands Office (now Central) established Annual turnover exceeds £1 million. Accredited as an Investor in People. Contract Journal, Best Places to Work: Winner.
  • 2008First Post Build Adoption Package
    JLES completes first post build adoption package and receives commendation from client, local authority and water company Recession severely hits client spend. JLES begin to penetrate social housing sector.
  • 2007Northern Office Opened
    Establishment of Group Structure and change of company name to JLES Group Ltd. Demand from North West Clients for JLES to work in the Yorkshire region expanded the business to form the embryonic Northern Office. Recruited second apprentice.
  • 2006The Business Grows
    Company change of name to JL Engineering Services Ltd. Client base grew to 20 and included clients from new sectors of industry. Team grew to 5 people including recruitment of first apprentice into the business.
  • 2005First Housebuilder Orders
    Began marketing campaign to promote the business to housebuilders in the Northwest of England. Generated first orders from Redrow, Bellway and Gleeson Homes and first adoption certificates were obtained by the company on behalf of developers.
  • 2004JLES Group Founded
    JLES was initially formed in response to a recognised need in the housing industry for a professional engineering solutions company that would provide technical and engineering services in a hassle and risk free way to Housebuilder technical departments. In order to set ourselves apart, we established a fixed fee, payment upon performance pricing policy. Limited company founded 9th December 2004 (Company No. 05308808) as JL Construction and Project Management Ltd.
