Apprenticeship Awards: Regional Winner

Apprenticeship Awards: Regional Winner

9th October 2017

Just three years ago, in 2014, JLES were named Regional Small Employer of the Year and were included in the Top 100 Employers.

We’re so pleased to have been named as Medium Employer of the Year (Greater Manchester, Staffordshire and Cheshire region) at this year’s North West Regional Apprenticeship Awards. The ceremony took place in the stunning Titanic Hotel in Liverpool and Team JLES certainly enjoyed the day – Joana from our Head Office team and Group Director Liam were joined by Andrew Hazlehurst of our partner organisation, Apprentibuild.

The Awards, now in their fourteenth year, are run by the National Apprenticeship Service and recognise excellence in two areas: businesses that grow their own talent with apprentices and apprentices who have made a significant contribution to their workplaces.

The whole organisation is thrilled with this latest accolade, as apprentices make up a large proportion of our workforce. We’re extremely proud of the professionals we have helped to shape through offering apprenticeships. They consistently strive for excellence and are always eager to work hard to achieve their full potential. Without our apprentices, we don’t know where we’d be.

As winners for the region, we now go forward for the National event due to take place in January 2018 as well as potential inclusion in the Top 100 Employers for 2017. We are amazed at how much the company has grown in the last 3 years and would like to send our thanks to the National Apprenticeship Service for recognising us, as well as our apprentices for aiding in our success.

When asked to comment, Group Director Jon Bracegirdle had this to say:

“Winning this award provides significant recognition to what we are trying to achieve as a business – to develop the next generation of business leaders through apprenticeships. Our workforce is fantastic in terms of morale and dedication, and I’m pleased that so many of our apprentice cohort have chosen to stay on and further their careers with JLES, which has been a significant factor in taking the business to the next level. We are delighted that something we are so passionate about has allowed for us to be recognised as an Employer of the Year.

It’s extremely refreshing to see more and more young people choosing to take the apprenticeship route, and this award puts JLES on the map as a leading apprentice employer.

2017 proved to be an exciting year for the business from start to finish – here’s to the future!”

Sue Husband, Director of the National Apprenticeship Service, said:

“The National Apprenticeship Awards allow talented apprentices and committed employers from across our regions to receive well-deserved recognition for their apprenticeship achievements. Winners recognised at these awards show the range of sectors and variety of job roles apprenticeships are available in, and how they can deliver the skills employers need. I congratulate all winners on their success so far and the very best of luck in the next stage of the competition.”
